I can understand the comparison - both books share a sense of the absurdity of war - but the two novels are very different. For instance, I would never have written about Yossarian (Heller’s main character) being naked while a general presents him with a medal. Nor would I have created a character like Milo Mindbender on the squadron whose M&M Enterprises trades with the enemy for supplies of food and drink.
